"If you listen to your body when it whispers, you won’t have to hear it scream."
For years, I struggled with weight loss, facing challenges like lack of motivation, inconsistency, and regaining lost weight. Between aging, pregnancies, and countless diets, I learned one important thing: a holistic approach is the only way forward, focusing on both mind and body. Everyone’s journey is unique, and finding what works for you is key.
Here are the essential steps that helped me:
1. Mindset
Your mindset is your greatest tool. The only person standing in your way is you. Set realistic goals, stay committed, and remember that you deserve to feel good in your body. Surround yourself with positivity and get help when needed—be it from friends, family, or professionals.
2. Environment
Your home, work, and leisure spaces should support your goals. Communicate your intentions with those around you and create a positive, health-focused atmosphere. If others aren’t ready to join, don’t be afraid to prioritize your wellbeing.
3. Health Check
Consult with professionals to ensure you’re physically ready for exercise and have no underlying health issues. Regular check-ups will help tailor your wellness plan.
4. Nutrition
There’s no one-size-fits-all diet. I focus on balanced meals, hydration, and flexible, yet structured, eating habits. Allow yourself a cheat day but stay mindful and avoid guilt when you indulge.
5. Exercise
I aim for 20 to 30 minutes of exercise daily, mixing it up to keep things fun. High-intensity cardio, low-impact activities, and even short stretches make a difference. Consistency matters more than perfection.
6. Self-Care
Prioritise relaxation and sleep. Screen-free time, outdoor exposure, and regular self-care rituals help reset both body and mind.
7. Monitoring
Track progress through measurements and mental check-ins rather than fixating on the scale. Apps or fitness trackers can help keep you accountable.
8. Routine
Build a balanced daily routine. Start small, and make gradual changes that align with your lifestyle.
Remember, change takes time. Stay patient, committed, and kind to yourself throughout your journey to a healthier, more balanced life.
